Profile Details

Goodman, which makes air conditioning and heating systems, announced in January 2015 that it would close its plant in Fayetteville, TN. Approximately 1,500 jobs will be lost, although the plant employs up to 1,900 workers during its peak summer season making it Fayetteville’s largest employer. Goodman, which was purchased by Japanese air conditioning manufacturer Daikin in 2013, is in the process of completing a $400 million campus outside of Houston, TX, to serve as its headquarters and manufacturing facility. Operations at the facility were originally slated to end in 2017, but the IAM members at Goodman last year overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract extension, allowing operations to be extended until mid-2019.
